continues... Oy Vey!
O.K., so PB had a 2nd MRI on the 14th...of her neck & spine this time, ordered by the new orthopod. She had a follow-up appt. with him today. He has now referred her to a Neurosurgeon, since the MRI shows a pretty seriously herniated cervical disk...between C6/C7. So now we wait for a call telling us where/when she sees THIS doc.
She's very frustrated, tired of hurting, and anxious about how the people in charge at work feel about her being out for so long. We've made sure they have gotten a copy of everything from the doctors, plus whatever they need for the Workman's Comp. claim...even so, she's worried that they're 'pissed off' at her. I seriously doubt it, but the two guys who are her immediate bosses are not known for their 'caring' personalities. Not Gordon Ramsey, but not Paula Deen either, LOL! So now we wait some more...GAH! Other than that, there really isn't much of anything going on...we're all in sort of a holding pattern...
We've had, in the last 5-7 days: Rain, snow, rain, pea-sized hail, rain, snow and rain...plus it's freakin' COLD! And tomorrow is the first day of Spring, right?! I repeat...Oy Vey! Daffodils are up, trees are blooming, birdies are chirpin' up a storm and staking out nest spots...and it's f*cking SNOWING! This has been one of the weirdest winters in a LONG time... Jen's Fibro is flaring like crazy, my kneecaps feel like someone hammered a two-penny nail into each one...PB's shoulder/arm/back is in nearly constant pain... Yeah, we're a fun bunch to be around...NOT!
Here's wishing for warmer and drier days, better news on the medical front, and general hope for a better, brighter tomorrow...not necessarily in that order...
A place to ramble on about my family, my thoughts and possibly even something interesting from time to time.

Local news and weather...
"Portland's rainfall so far in 2011 has measured just over 47 inches. That's 10 inches over the entire yearly average." (Courtesy of KGW.com)
Yeah...it's been a wet year so far...and there's more on the way...sigh... It's hard to be upbeat and cheerful when it's unremittingly cloudy, gray and dark... Good thing I have bloggy friends and interwebby stuffs to make me smile!
I laughed my ass off at 'Stine, she's taken to Pinterest like a duck to water! I think it's possible that she spent an entire DAY pinning! Kind of like me, when she turned me on to StumbleUpon...
So yeah, it's cold, wet and rainy here...but PB's car is fixed and running very well (it WAS the timing belt), so she's happy. I have a touch of some kind of bug...VERY achy muscles and just tired all over. Got to the store, but didn't get my Chicken Spaghetti made...that'll be dinner later this week.
I'm just gonna be a lump, I think...maybe Stumble some and maybe Pin some...have a great rest of the week.

Squish...
...squish, squish...it's gettin' kinda soggy here... This was posted on one of our local news websites (KATU) : " By the way, if you're counting 23 out of 24 days this month have had rain. At 27 days it will be a new record for most number of rainy days in March." And it appears that we're well on our way to making that record...guess what's in the forecast???
Oh well...Spring in Oregon...one long wet season...I've got pork chops to stick in the crockpot, and I think I'm gonna make a cake. So dinner will be comfort food and SUGAR! LOL...
I decided NOT to go to the Scrapbook Convention...I've got enough stuff for now, and Boo has her money tied up in her wedding, so it's just best all around if we stay away from temptation!
Have a great weekend, try to stay warm and dry wherever you are!

Yay...
...once again, we managed to avoid the 'snowpocalypse'! All the precipitation we had yesterday melted off before the end of the day...and the clouds disappeared. So it's clear, sunny, windy...and friggin' COLD here, but no snow! The low last night was about 28 and is supposed to be in the teens tonight...today's high is about 32 but the gusty winds are making it seem a LOT colder. I'm just thankful I don't live someplace that has these kinds of temperatures on a regular basis!
They're forecasting that we'll be back to our regular rain and mid 40s by Sunday or Monday...that works for me! As a born Oregonian, I know I won't melt in the rain...and my undercarriage has already rusted out, LOL!
Have a good weekend, stay as warm and dry as you can...

Grateful...
...is what I am! That I don't live anywhere in the path of the enormous winter storm that's going on right now. That we have power, and heat, and lots of food in the house. There's lots of folks out there right now who don't! Stay warm and safe, please.
It's cold and very windy here, but a clear beautiful day otherwise. It's very deceiving, you don't even realize how cold it is until you actually go outside...my Mom used to call this kind of wind "lazy wind", that is, it's too lazy to go around you and instead just goes straight through you! We're very fortunate to live in a place with a fairly moderate climate...but there are always exceptions, LOL. We've had the occasional snow and/or ice storm that brings the city to a complete standstill. And it doesn't take very much for that to happen,LOL! We're really not prepared for weather extremes, and the people here (unless they're from someplace where it DOES snow) don't know how to drive in any kind of snow or ice conditions. I certainly don't! The winter of 2008 was one of those exceptions...we had a week of snow and blizzard conditions that turned the streets into skating rinks, and caused school and business closures for several days.
This was our front porch Christmas week 2008:
And the back deck:
It may not seem like much to other folks, but we just aren't prepared for this kind of thing in the metro area, LOL! Just a few miles north, on the slopes of Mt. Hood, they are...but it happens there every year. Down on the "valley floor", not so much.
So to all of you dealing with wind, snow, ice, power outages and suchlike...you have my best wishes and good thoughts today. Hang in there...tomorrow (2/2) is Imbolc, we're halfway through Winter and on the way to Spring!
